3 Ways Video Marketing Can Benefit Your Business
Video marketing is no longer optional, it’s essential. Here are 3 ways video marketing can benefit your business.
Video marketing works. Just Google it and all the stats will prove it. Stats like “video marketing can up your brand awareness by 70%” or “54% of people demand more video content”. Don’t trust internet facts? We don’t either most of the time. Just look at your competitors, the ones doing really well, and you’ll see them using video marketing to help accomplish their business goals.
Video works, but how do you use it to benefit your business? We’ve got 3 tips on how to get started with video marketing.
#1: People Don’t Care About Your Brand (at least, not yet)
Quick Summary: Show your audience you care about them, and then (and only then) they’ll care about your product or service.
Picture this. You just got done explaining your brilliant product or service to a potential customer. You finish talking and wait; you know you just closed the deal. This is the moment… the moment where they are going to scream with excitement, tell you this is what they have always needed, and throw all their money at you. But instead, they stare at you blankly, nod politely, and walk away because they have no idea what you do, and most importantly, no idea how you can help them.
Can you picture it? Sure, most brands can. You have an amazing product or service that can change someone’s life by directly solving their problem. But (and this is a BIG BUT), you are having a hard time getting them to care. Why? Well, there can be a lot of reasons. But you can bet the main reason is you are talking about yourself more than you are talking about your audience.
At HypeKick, we’ve developed a 5 step script writing method called the Secret Script Sauce that will get people to care about your brand (sometimes in 30 seconds or less). The strategy is to make the audience the hero of the ad and your brand the guide to help them win. We’ve used this script method for brands like Lowe’s, Bankrate, Buffalo Jackson, and Movement Mortgage to make their audience connect with the brand, care about what they have to offer, and then call them to action. If you follow this method, you can get people to care about your brand too.
Step 1 | The Hook: Hook the viewer with something they’re interested in
Step 2 | The Problem: Identify their problem and make them feel known
Step 3 | The Solution: Show how you have the solution for that exact problem
Step 4 | The Benefit: Give them a picture of how much better their life will be after using your product
Step 5 | The CTA: Call them to action
#2: Your “What Now” Does What Now?
Quick Summary: Don't write it, show it.
Video > White Papers
Your new product will change the world. It’s proprietary, revolutionary, and a bunch of other “ary’s.” You know the ins and outs of this thing. In fact, you’ve written a 30-page white paper on how it works and why it’s so incredible. This white paper is so well written you’ve submitted it for a Pulitzer.
There’s only one problem: no one wants to read your Puliziter-winning 30-page white paper. Why? Because people want to watch video content. Is it because they are lazy or too busy? We dunno. But all stats say people want video. In fact, when asked how they’d most like to learn about a product or service, 73% of people said they’d prefer to watch a short video. And what the people want (in this instance) makes sense.
To explain what a product is in a clear, visually engaging, and concise way is how you are going to win the hearts of your customers. This type of video is commonly known as an “explainer.” You’ve probably seen a bunch of these videos floating around. Usually, there are a bunch of animated characters with noodles for limbs running around using a product while the narrator explains what that product does. Here are some explainers created by HypeKick that build upon this tried and true type of video.
There are a lot of video types to show the nuts and bolts of your amazing product. Which type of explainer you create depends on your product and audience (HypeKick can help you solve that problem). But no matter what, when explaining your product, don’t write it, show it with video because video is king. Your audience will thank you (and so will your sales).
#3. Your Site Has Less Traffic Than Chic-Fil-A on a Sunday
Quick Summary: A beautiful website without video might become an expensive digital paperweight collecting dust.
Your site is incredible. That marketing agency gave you the works. Beautiful design. High-end photography everywhere. Well-written copy. Easy to use navigation. It’s just incredible. (Or, your site is awful and it needs to be completely redone. If that’s you, fix that first and then come back to this post). So, why are people hitting your website and fleeing in seconds like they stole something? Or even worse, why are people not coming to your site at all?
Yep, you guessed it. It’s because you don’t have enough video, or even worse, you don’t have any video at all. When it comes to people finding your site and staying there, videos are essential. Google, the great (and terrifying) god of the internet, rewards video in several ways. In fact, they have an entire page dedicated to telling you how to use video to improve your SEO.
First, in search optimization studies, it was proven that search results with video thumbnails got a higher click rate than those without one. So, when someone searches for the “best power drill” and your drill pops up with a super cool video next to it, which search result do you think that consumer will click on? You guessed it, yours.
Second, Google rewards sites that have high retention rates. This means that if people stay on your site for a long time once they land, Google is going to encourage others to visit your site because Google knows you’ve got the goods people want. Video is a great way to keep people entertained once they hit your site. It’s why Youtube and TikTok have become so popular - people love watching videos. Now, be smart with your video content. Don’t put a 30 min video on your homepage that people only watch 10 seconds of and then exit out. Google sees all…and won’t reward you. You’ve got to make compelling and entertaining videos that have a high VTR (view-through rate) like these ads produced by HypeKick. Then, and only then, will Google send people to your site.
